I am the first person to admit that I have one of the genuinely weirdest tastes in music for a teenage girl and I think my love for Conchita Wurst really helps prove that.
I've been fascinated with "the bearded lady" since she won my favourite television event, Eurovision in 2014 and have found myself constantly streaming her new album "Conchita" on Spotify daily. This made me think, why do I even like Conchita Wurst when she clearly isn't marketed for my age, music taste or even my nationality?
I think part of my genuine fascination with this lady is how unique she is. There's no one else in the mainstream market who is anything like her which makes her totally one of a kind. The beard doesn't take away my love for her, it makes it stronger. I see her as an inspiration for anyone who struggles to be themselves.
On multiple nights I will find myself searching for (English) interviews because she is one of the funniest, light-hearted people in the industry at the moment, which totally attracts me towards her album. She's continually making smart and funny comments in interviews which makes her super likeable.
Let's not even start on her album. This is personally my favourite album of the year, full of a variety of genres that could appeal to any audience. I went into the album expecting twelve tracks of pure power ballad but I was happily surprised. This album is full of pop, soul and power. They're easily stuck in your head and such great tracks to jam out too. The stand out tracks are easily: Up For Air, Firestorm and Where Have All The Good Men Gone.
Finally, I think everyone should go ahead and give Conchita's self titled debut album a listen before formulating an opinion based on looks and gender stereotypes. Keep doing what you're doing Conchita, I LOVE it.
