If you love generic pop-rock music, this is the album for you. There's no secret that I've adored this spunky pop-rock for a few years and this album is by far their best release. This album is full of incredibly catchy pop songs that are determined to make you sing and dance along. These guys deliver a new, different sound in every track and is 100% worth the listen. There's no let down track on this album and I can't wait to see how this album turns out live.
Here's a review of my five favourite songs.
1. Dark Side
Easily the most catchy dance song on the album. The melody and chorus are so catchy and it's almost impossible not to sing along to this song. It's filled with mysterious lyrics and shows a sort of deeper side of the band, without being too mature. Lyrics such as "Falling in love on the first date, I don't even know your last name" show the lovestruck side of the band. This is a stand out track and shows potential to be a hit if released as a single. 10/10 for R5.
2. I Know You Got Away
I Know You Got Away is one of the more mature songs on this album, almost sexy. The start of the song is mysterious and generally makes you want to move your hips. Ross' voice on the chorus is vocally his strongest point of the entire album. Lyrics like "All my time is consumed with your face" probably make hearts swoon. This song would be incredibly fun to chant to live and is probably a fan favourite.
3. Did You Have Your Fun?
This is the most rock song on the album and really shows a more mature and almost dirty sound for R5. The band name drops cities such as Sydney and Tokyo, which is sure to set fans in both cities into pandemonium. The lyric "She's so bad she's good for me" shows the sexier side of the band while they continually try to shed their disney image. This song shows a side of R5 that has never been seen before and makes the older fans quite happy ;)
4. Repeating Days
This song is the most emotional song on the album and could be considered the ballad of the album. It's obviously inspired by a tough breakup. "Driving home I'm empty hearted" and lyrics like it lead you to feel a sense of compassion towards whoever suffered the breakup (Rocky obviously). This song shows a rare, sensitive side to R5 that isn't common. The highlight of this song is certainly when Ross' voices comes back and sings a beautiful, different version of the song absolutely perfectly.
5. Do It Again
What a pop tune?! This song isn't really much different to any other pop song but it has an awesome melody and lyrics that make it stand out. Ross' strong vocals deliver once again on this song and really take the song into a different field. We can thank Rydel for this song being on the able, like she said it's "For the girls". Cute lyrics such as "I'll pick you up at 8 and we can drive around, take you to the beach and we can head downtown while you hold my hand" were written to make teenage girls swoon. Certainly a great addition to the album.
R5 have proven with this album that they can tackle any sort of music and the delays on the album were so worth the wait. I can't wait to hopefully see some of these songs live. Perfect job R5!
100000000/10 for this album!
