I’m the sort of person who goes to a lot of concerts and over the past year, I haven’t been really getting the same excitement out of concerts as I used to but it was a completely different story for The Vamps. I had literally been counting down the sleeps until I got to see The Vamps live. I had so many high expectations for this concert and it met EVERY single expectation and more.
Masketta Fall were the perfect support act. They are so full of energy and they had the perfect set-list to hype the crowd up. I would personally like to shoutout Moli from Masketta Fall for being a dude and giving me a hug at the end of their set! (Still not sure why but hey) Short stack were awesome as well. Their set was full of old classics that almost everyone knew the words too but their big heads got in the way of me enjoying their set.
The Vamps came out belting out “Wild Heart” and I couldn’t help but miss James and his guitar before he ran out on stage holding a massive Australian flag. Bless his heart. I couldn’t help but feel the energy through my body just watching the boys perform. They looked so ready to be back on tour and back ready to play for the 5,000 adoring girls (mostly under 16).
They then starting playing my personal favourite “Girls On TV” where James and I bantered during the lyric “Can I buy a ticket to your show? I said front row if I go home with you” where I personally wanted to jump on stage and attack him. Another highlight of my night was Brad cussing during their Youtube mashup, which was a great addition to the setlist.
“She Was The One” is my favourite on the album and was the highlight of my night. Nothing will ever beat being front row for my favourite song from one of my favourite bands. Nothing beats an emotional tune at such a big venue.
During the show, James had made multiple sexual jokes about his wrist injury, which made audience members over the age of 16’s night whereas people under that age probably didn’t understand the joke at all. Thank you Brad for being a literal God and telling the girls to back away multiple times during the gig because there were over 50 people pulled from the crowd because of the heat and pushing.
During another one of my favourite songs “Move My Way” while Brad wasn’t singing, he came back over to the side of the stage where I was standing and decided to dance around holding his acoustic guitar before he turned around and started “attempting” to twerk. You could see the proud look on James’ face watching everyone sing back a song he wrote so long ago.
They performed multiple songs that I consider my “favourite” but when they performed their singles, the crowd went to another world and the energy was off the charts. Even though a lot of the crowd were unfamiliar with their cover of “Teenagers” by My Chemical Romance, I felt like this song was one of the strongest songs of the night and they did a perfect cover. I know Connor & Tristan are both big fans of MCR so it was cool seeing them put their spin on the song.
Tristan's drum solo was incredible. Drummers are so underrated but Tristan's solo showed the entire crowd that he is a powerhouse and an incredible performer. Hats off to you Tris.
(Also good job to Brad who shredded on the drums for a song. You're the bomb)
The energy of this concert was absolutely incredible and I could feel Brad’s sweat on. You could feel the energy the boys put into the show. These boys love performing and clearly thrive off the energy the fans give them. “Can We Dance” was the strongest song energy wise and I could feel the sweat of around 50 people around me during the show.
Down points of the night: This crowd was the most brutal, horrible group of teenage girls I have come across in my multiple years of attending concerts. The 11-15 year old girls did not understand pushing forward was not going to get them anywhere.
This concert was one of the best I had attended in my entire life and The Vamps really should be proud of their stage show. My life motto is that you don’t understand any band until you see them live and The Vamps is certainly perform live incredibly well. I highly suggest anyone that’s into guitar driven music to check out The Vamps whether it’s live or through their Youtube channel!
